Safeguarding

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility.

Keeping Children Safe in Education (2024)

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is an integral part of life at Manor Primary School and it is everyone's responsibility, and it means:

  • Providing help and supporting to meet the needs of children as soon as problems emerge
  • Protecting children from maltreatment, whether that is within or outside the home, including online
  • Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development
  • Making sure children receive safe and effective care as they grow up
  • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

All staff receive thorough induction training and annual refresher training to ensure they fully understand their responsibilities. Keeping children safe is our top priority, and everything we do—our policies, values, curriculum, and best practices—works towards that goal. We strive to empower children by teaching them how to stay safe and confidently speak out.

Children develop strong, trusting relationships with our staff, knowing they have someone to turn to whenever they need support. We also have a dedicated Well-being Hub, where any child can go to be heard and receive the help they need.

In some cases, we may need to share information, seek advice, or collaborate with other agencies if we have concerns about a child’s welfare. We believe in transparency and always aim to work together to achieve the best outcomes for every child.

If you ever need extra help or support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are always here to listen and offer guidance in whatever way we can.

Who can help?

Parents and carers play a vital role in keeping children safe within their community. If you have any concerns, no matter how small, it’s important to share them with someone you trust will listen. Every school is required to have a designated safeguarding lead for this purpose. If you have concerns about a child or a staff member, you or your child should speak to the safeguarding officer. You can contact them through the school office.

If you believe a child or young person is in immediate danger, call 999.
